1 lb ground turkey
1 can diced green chiles, drained
1/2 c breadcrumbs
1 tsp garlic powder
salt and pepper to taste
lettuce, for serving
red onion, thinly sliced for serving
mild banana peppers for serving
4 whole wheat hamburger buns
1/4 c mayonnaise
1 tbsp lemon juice
1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
- In a large bowl, combine turkey, green chiles, egg, breadcrumbs, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Mix until all ingredients are incorporated. (You may need to add more breadcrumbs if the mixture seems especially wet.) Form into four equal patties and set aside.
- Heat grill to medium and place burger patties directly on grates. When patties release easily from grate, about 6 minutes, flip and cook another 5-6 minutes, until juices run clear.
- Meanwhile, in a small bowl, mix together mayo, lemon juice, and cayenne pepper. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
- Place burgers on buns and top with lettuce, onion, banana peppers, and spicy mayo. Enjoy!
